Dolores Brosky
Dolores Brosky - Owen Sound, Ontario
Date of Death: June 5, 2010
Quota International mourns the loss of Past International President Dolores Brosky, 74, who died June 5, 2010. She leaves behind three brothers, Dr. Gerry Brosky of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and Joe and Roy Brosky, both of Toronto, Canada. Dolores joined Quota when at a mall she saw a Quota display and innocently asked the magic question, “What’s Quota?” A member invited her to the next meeting and her Quota career began. From then on she became an active member and moved up the ranks, serving as international president in 2000-2001. Her presidential theme, Brighten Our World with Quota, reflected her positive, inspirational view that Quota’s greatest purpose was to help others and to do so with a happy heart. “Just as she saw Quota as a way to brighten the world, she, too, brightened Quota’s world with a ready smile and a twinkle in her eye,” said Quota Executive Director Kathleen Treiber. “She didn’t belabor the ‘small stuff’ in life, but rather used her time and her talent to help Quota achieve the greatest good for others. In focusing on others rather than herself, she lived a selfless life that endeared her to all who knew and loved her, both far and near.” PIP Dolores had an interesting career: she was one of the few women in a male-dominated world of auto parts management. She would attend regional and national meetings and be the only woman present. Rather than being intimidated, she felt perfectly at ease, confident in her professional knowledge and experience and was, in fact, often a speaker at these meetings. Dolores was a world thinker. She loved being a part of an international organization and treasured making friends from throughout the Quota world. At the convention in Brisbane, Australia, while honoring the first anniversary of Quota International’s We Share Foundation, Dolores said, “Working together, we really do make a tremendous difference in the world. Our impact as a group is enormous.” Dolores took great pride in Quota’s service in her community and around the world. Long after her presidency, Dolores continued to support Quota locally and internationally and faithfully traveled to Quota’s conventions. She regularly came to Washington in between convention years to support the new Quota president installed at that time. “I like to think that Dolores’ light will continue to shine through the acts of kindness and gentleness that Quota members express every day, said Quota Executive Director Kathleen. “ I think it would please Dolores to be remembered in that way.”

Quota International of Monroe recently celebrated the life of Francis Bullington who died Dec. 18th,2009. Francis was a Quotarian for almost 25years. Edith Scheutzow
Date of Death: January 18, 2010
Quota International mourns the loss of Past International President Edith Scheutzow, 78, who died January 18, 2010, surrounded by family in Ohio, U.S.A. A member of the Canton Quota club, Edith served as International President in 1990-1991. Her presidential theme, Begin with Enthusiasm, reflected her belief that enthusiasm is key to fully embracing and enjoying life. “She was a grand and gracious lady with an infectiously positive attitude and love of life,” said Executive Director Kathleen Treiber. “She was the wind beneath the wings of so many people who were touched by her generosity and kindness.” Edith was instrumental in the campaign to purchase the Washington brownstone that houses Quota’s World Headquarters and was proud to begin her term as president with the ceremonial burning of the Quota World Headquarters mortgage. In her presidential address at Convention in 1990 {Seattle, Washington}, she shared her conviction that Quota’s growth depends upon members’ zeal: “What better way can we use enthusiasm generated by our success in service than through recruiting new members and organizing new clubs. This same enthusiasm must permeate our club meetings, service projects, and fund raisers to help us retain these members.” Edith leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Roy. The two reared four daughters and worked together for 35 years as owner-operators of a Beltone Hearing Center. They retired in 1997 and began to divide their time between homes in Ohio and Florida. Edith remained active in both communities and found time to share a ready smile and tender spirit with everyone she met, most especially her ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. “She reached out to others,” said Kathleen, “and she did it so well. All of us who knew her were blessed to have had her in our lives.” Expressions of sympathy may be made to Edith’s husband, Roy, and Edith’s family at the following address: Roy Scheutzow and family, 560 North Prospect Ave., Hartville, OH 44632

Date of Death: November 24, 2009
It is said that “only the good die young” and so it is with our dear member, Lina Gioello, who passed away at the age of 52. Lina was a mother, daughter, sister and to so many, a wonderful and cherished friend. We remember her as an artist, perfectionist, animal lover, and advocate for the deaf and overall humanitarian. Lina was intelligent, fun, had a wonderful sense of humor, and knew how to make an entrance! She was a special lady and we loved her! Lina designed our club logo in 2002 when we chartered! On our 1st birthday, Lina thought we should create our own award, so she presented our club with a special “Best Club Award!” On our 2nd birthday, she presented us with the “Terrible Two’s” award! We laughed until we cried! Only our Lina would think to do the outrageous! She designed a “May is Better Speech and Hearing Month” pin that we gave to all the members in our District and are still selling at various Quota meetings. Lina was our scholarship chairperson for several years! In 2003, our club nominated Lina as our Volunteer of the Year. Lina made the decision to dedicate her time as an advocate for children when she required the assistance of an advocate for her deaf son. Lina learned everything about the system, in order to be able to give back to other children and parents in similar situations. She was not only knowledgeable about the laws, policies and procedures, but she understood how the school system worked. She was awesome! Although her passing is difficult to understand and accept, our hearts are filled with thanksgiving for having had Lina as part of our Quota family. We continue to pray for her family and Lina as she takes this next journey.

Quota International of Bath was very fortunate to have been blessed with Millie as a member and a sister. Millie needed no training, it was second nature for her to share and care. She was always sharing good ideas for products to sell, activities for fund raising and volunteering her time when needed. She was 2009 Co-Volunteer of the Year with her great friend Carol Andrews. Millie was a Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and cherished friend of many. She was always willing to step up to the plate, from being a stay at home mother or going out into the work force utilizing her knowledge in office and business practices. Millie's people skills were ever apparent in her unwavering patience. In Millie's later years she loved helping her friends when they were in need, a true friend who was always there for you. We had just learned that Millie was given a 3-6 month life expectancy after a yearlong battle with cancer. Tragically Millie and her dear friend Quota sister, Carol Andrews, were in a violent car crash. Millie was taken from us in that crach, depriving us of the privilege of having her with us for a little longer. This blessing for her to no longer endure cancer does not ease our loss, although we do understand it! We miss you Millie, yet we know you will always be with us! In 1977, Pat Walsh was the fourth South Pacific Area Director to be elected to the International Board of Directors, and prior to the Quota International Convention held in Sydney in 1980 - the first held outside the North American continent with an attendance of 1,100, Pat was asked by the Executive Director of the time, Dora Lee Haynes, to co-ordinate the meeting in Sydney - a monumentally difficult task, but with the help of many it was a very successful meeting. Previously, Pat had been the chairman of the Combined Conference of Australian Clubs in 1971 in Canberra - the forerunner of area meetings. In the early days of her Quota "life", Pat's commitment was to serve country and community, but throughout her 53 years of membership, she directed her time, skills and finances to the dedication of Quota's values and ideals. She was one of Australia's Quota "Trailblazers".
